Washington has removed the contract uncertainty surrounding Terry McLaurin and locked its WR1 into an offense that now pairs him with Stefon Diggs.

McLaurin remains the primary outside receiver, while Diggs gives Jayden Daniels an established veteran complement who can work extensively underneath and from the slot.

The combination strengthens Daniels’ receiving environment without requiring a downgrade to McLaurin solely because another proven receiver has arrived.

Remove the contract-risk flag from McLaurin. Maintain his current draft valuation.

The next evaluation should focus on how targets are distributed between McLaurin and Diggs once Washington’s complete passing game is on the field.

McLaurin and the Washington Commanders agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $96 million, ending a turbulent offseason that included stalled negotiations, a late training-camp arrival and a trade request.

The deal carries a reported base value of $87 million with $44 million fully guaranteed, increasing to $50 million in April 2027. It also includes a $30 million signing bonus and incentives tied to production and team success.

More importantly for fantasy managers, Washington can now move forward with the receiving corps it spent the offseason assembling around Jayden Daniels.

The Commanders added Stefon Diggs earlier this month after he produced 85 receptions for 1,013 yards in New England last season.

Diggs has increasingly operated from the slot and underneath areas, while McLaurin remains Washington’s established outside No. 1.

That gives Daniels two accomplished veteran receivers with complementary roles entering the regular season.

The contract drama mattered because uncertainty matters.

Now it’s gone.

Washington enters the season with McLaurin secured, Diggs added and Jayden Daniels surrounded by a considerably stronger veteran receiving combination.

Diggs will command targets, so there is more competition than McLaurin has traditionally faced. But additional competition does not automatically mean diminished fantasy value when the offense itself becomes more dangerous.

For now, the important move is simple:

Remove the contract concern and evaluate McLaurin on football again.
