Brock Bowers is officially out against Miami after undergoing a procedure on his knee. He did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and will not play in the Raiders' opener.

Get Bowers out of Week 1 lineups and use a replacement tight end. Do not drop him. Current expectation is that this is a short-term lineup problem rather than a reason to abandon his season-long value.

Bowers underwent a meniscus trim Tuesday after a knee issue that originated during camp. Las Vegas held him out of all three practices this week before officially ruling him out Friday.

The Raiders now open the season without one of the most important pieces of their passing offense.

The decision is simple for Week 1: Bowers sits. The larger question is how quickly he returns and whether the knee affects his workload when he does.
