Patrick Mahomes' clearance could help Kansas City take off quickly

Patrick Mahomes has been cleared to participate in every portion of training camp as he continues returning from the ACL injury he suffered in December. Andy Reid said the Chiefs will take his recovery day by day, but Mahomes opening camp as a full participant represents a major step toward being ready for the regular season. Rashee Rice has also been cleared to practice.

Kansas City also enters camp with Kenneth Walker III positioned to reshape its backfield. Walker rushed for 1,027 yards last season despite spending much of the year splitting work. His final FAZE profile included one Boom, four Hits, two Mids and 10 Busts—production that reflected an inconsistent weekly workload more than a lack of ability.

The offensive line remains the major structural question entering camp.

Walker's 2025 season was only the tip of the iceberg.

He scored 182 fantasy points, caught 31 passes for 282 yards and surpassed 1,000 rushing yards while operating in a timeshare. **When his backfield competition was unavailable—and when the Seahawks needed him most during the playoffs—Walker showed what his ceiling could look like with control of the offense.**

Kansas City historically prefers identifying its primary running back rather than rotating players without purpose. If Walker receives the featured role, his rushing ability and comfort catching out of the backfield can change the entire ecosystem.

Mahomes loves using his backs as receivers. A legitimate running threat can also create cleaner opportunities for Rice underneath, preserve Kelce as he ages and force defenses to account for Worthy's speed downfield.

Mahomes is a veteran competitor who keeps himself prepared, and being cleared at the beginning of camp gives him time to regain football conditioning before Week 1. If the offensive line comes together and the primary weapons remain healthy, Kansas City could have one of the NFL's strongest offensive bounce-back seasons.

Mahomes' movement during full-team periods, Walker's share of first-team and passing-down repetitions, and the competition along the offensive line.

Las Vegas has built a better environment for its young offensive core

The Raiders begin their first training camp under Klint Kubiak with a quarterback room featuring Fernando Mendoza, Kirk Cousins, Aidan O'Connell and Jacob Clark.

Las Vegas also rebuilt its offensive line around Tyler Linderbaum. The new-look unit is expected to benefit both Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers, although camp must determine how quickly the group develops continuity.

Quarterback play should **not** be the Raiders' biggest problem this season.

That does not mean every quarterback is guaranteed to play well. Kirk Cousins must prove he still has enough left after two disappointing seasons, and Fernando Mendoza must translate his talent into NFL production.

But Las Vegas has given itself multiple legitimate paths.

Cousins can operate Kubiak's offense while mentoring Mendoza.

Aidan O'Connell is capable of keeping the offense functional and already understands the organization.

Mendoza is the talented young gunslinger with the upside to become the long-term answer.

That is a good quarterback room—especially with Klint Kubiak calling the shots.

The larger concern is whether the offensive line can come together quickly enough to support a young core featuring Mendoza, Jeanty and Brock Bowers.

The scheme should be vastly improved.

Protection and organizational stability will determine whether the Raiders finally turn those pieces into consistent offensive production.

Brock Bowers' health, the starting offensive-line combination, and Mendoza's chemistry with the first-team offense.

Bo Nix has the weapons to produce his best fantasy season

Bo Nix enters his third season fully recovered from the ankle injury that ended Denver's postseason.

Denver now pairs Courtland Sutton with Jaylen Waddle, giving Nix arguably the strongest receiving group of his career while maintaining one of the league's better offensive lines.

Denver has often been a better real football team than fantasy football team.

That could change.

Sean Payton believes Bo Nix is a true quarterback capable of running his offense.

Courtland Sutton has already proven he can be a No. 1 receiver.

Jaylen Waddle gives Denver another explosive weapon capable of stretching defenses.

J.K. Dobbins remains the biggest wildcard because of his injury history.

If Nix becomes more consistent and Payton opens the offense, Denver could quietly become one of fantasy football's better offensive ecosystems.

Mike McDaniel could unlock the Chargers' offense

Justin Herbert enters his first season under offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

The Chargers return a talented young offense featuring Herbert, Omarion Hampton, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston while rebuilding the tight end room around several athletic options.

This may be the AFC West's most intriguing offensive development.

Mike McDaniel remains one of football's brightest offensive minds.

Herbert already possesses elite arm talent.

McDaniel's system creates spacing, motion, timing and explosive opportunities for playmakers.

McConkey disappointed fantasy managers last season after carrying lofty expectations, but the market may simply have been one year early.

Hampton enters his second season with legitimate breakout potential.

Johnston provides another explosive outside weapon.

If McDaniel successfully installs his offense, the Chargers could become one of fantasy football's fastest-rising ecosystems.

McConkey's usage, Hampton's third-down role and whether Gadsden separates from the tight end room.
