Bijan Robinson’s contract situation is over. Atlanta signed him to an extension through the 2030 season, with the new three-year portion reportedly worth up to $75 million. Robinson returned to warmups and individual drills Tuesday after sitting out team work during negotiations, but Kevin Stefanski said the Falcons will gradually increase his workload rather than immediately turning him loose.

The controlled ramp-up should be viewed as normal August management—not a reason to lower Robinson significantly. The contract eliminates the only meaningful non-football uncertainty attached to one of fantasy football’s safest elite selections.

Robinson belongs firmly in the discussion for the first overall pick.

Atlanta has reinforced its commitment financially, and Stefanski’s offense is already displaying concepts that can maximize Robinson’s versatility. Wednesday’s practice featured designed screens and play-action movement, which should create opportunities for Robinson as both a runner and receiver once he resumes full participation.

Brian Robinson Jr. still gives Atlanta a credible complementary runner, but the extension makes the hierarchy unmistakable. The second Robinson can absorb physical carries and help preserve Bijan without displacing him from the high-value touches that drive elite fantasy production.

Atlanta’s quarterback situation remains less settled. Tua Tagovailoa handled the starting repetitions during Wednesday’s long 11-on-11 period as he moved past minor back tightness, while Michael Penix Jr. continued making quality throws during 7-on-7 work. Both quarterbacks connected with Drake London during practice.

London’s value remains stable because his role does not depend on one quarterback winning immediately. The greater concern is whether uncertainty at quarterback limits the offense’s overall touchdown ceiling.

The contract was the last obstacle between Robinson and a clean 1.01 case.

Atlanta is not paying him like a running back it plans to protect from meaningful work. It is paying him like the foundation of the offense.

The slow return to team drills is responsible management. Unless that ramp unexpectedly extends deeper into August, it should not change the draft decision.

Atlanta’s defense lost second-year edge rusher Jalon Walker for the entire 2026 season after the team confirmed an ACL tear. Walker recorded 5.5 sacks as a rookie and was expected to assume greater responsibility this season. The injury lowers the Falcons DST ceiling and creates another reason to treat the unit as a matchup option rather than a draft priority.

Rookie receiver Ted Hurst III became one of Baker Mayfield’s primary targets during Tuesday’s practice while Chris Godwin Jr., Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan were sidelined. Todd Bowles praised Hurst’s timing, hands and ability to earn Mayfield’s trust.

The veteran absences do not currently appear to represent one major injury crisis. McMillan and Egbuka were held off the indoor turf because of lower-body soreness, while Tampa Bay’s official report noted that Godwin had regularly received veteran rest and was likely absent as a precaution. Tez Johnson left early with a groin strain and was scheduled for further treatment.

Hurst is the clear Tampa Bay riser.

He is not yet a standard-league draft priority because Godwin, Egbuka and McMillan remain ahead of him when healthy. But Hurst is proving that his role is not limited to developmental depth. He is earning meaningful repetitions with Mayfield and showing the vertical ability Tampa Bay wanted when it selected him in the third round.

That makes Hurst a strong dynasty target and a redraft watch-list candidate. If one of Tampa Bay’s established receivers experiences a longer absence, he could become immediately relevant.

The current soreness should not trigger a major downgrade for Egbuka, Godwin or McMillan. It should, however, remind fantasy managers that the Buccaneers’ receiver value may be spread across several capable options rather than concentrated in one overwhelming target leader.

Kenneth Gainwell has been one of Tampa Bay’s most consistent camp performers. The Buccaneers have highlighted his work on screens, option routes, perimeter runs and pass protection, while offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said the staff will continue finding ways to use him alongside Bucky Irving.

This is not evidence of a backfield takeover.

It is evidence that Gainwell could absorb some of the receiving, motion and passing-down work that would otherwise strengthen Irving’s ceiling. Irving remains the better fantasy investment, but managers should avoid assuming he will monopolize every valuable backfield role.

Robinson has also frequently used multiple tight ends during camp. Cade Otton remains the most likely player to benefit as a receiver, although the depth of Tampa Bay’s wideout room may keep his weekly target ceiling inconsistent.

Hurst is earning attention for the right reason: opportunity created the repetitions, but performance is allowing him to keep them.

That distinction matters.

Camp hype becomes useful when a player converts extra access into quarterback trust. Hurst has begun doing that.

The more important season-long question may be in the backfield. Gainwell does not have to threaten Irving’s starting status to reduce some of the easy receptions that help create Boom weeks.

Xavier Legette was cleared of a concussion after landing hard during Tuesday’s practice, but Carolina continues to evaluate him for a stinger. Dave Canales said Legette would not have played in Thursday night’s Hall of Fame Game regardless because the Panthers are holding their starters out.

The injury does not currently appear to be a long-term crisis, but it arrives after rookie receiver Chris Brazzell II suffered a season-ending knee injury. Carolina entered camp with Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker established as its top two receivers, leaving Legette in a prove-it role behind them.

McMillan and Coker are the safest beneficiaries if Legette misses additional practice time.

McMillan remains the offense’s premium receiving talent, while Coker’s established role and multi-position usage make him an increasingly attractive middle-to-late-round target. Neither player requires Legette to be absent to carry fantasy value, but a narrower receiver rotation would make their weekly involvement more secure.

Legette remains draftable as an upside selection at the right price, but he cannot be valued based solely on draft pedigree. He entered camp behind two established receivers and now has another interruption during an important development period.

Carolina’s offense continues to build around Bryce Young, McMillan, Coker and Chuba Hubbard. Young ended Tuesday’s practice with a play-action touchdown pass to Hubbard, reinforcing the running back’s receiving utility rather than presenting him as a rushing-only option.

Jonathon Brooks remains the more explosive secondary backfield investment, but Hubbard still owns the dependable role and should not be casually projected out of the lead position.

Bryce Young will not play Thursday night. Kenny Pickett will start, but rookie Haynes King is expected to receive most of the quarterback snaps after Pickett exits. The game should therefore be treated primarily as an evaluation of Carolina’s depth—not as a preview of the starting offense.

The useful fantasy information will come from which reserve receivers separate themselves and how Brooks looks when given opportunities, not from the final score.

Carolina also placed offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles on injured reserve after a calf injury. Charles had worked with the first unit while Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis were sidelined, although Hunt has since returned to practice. The move creates an offensive-line depth concern without yet establishing a full starting-unit crisis.

The Legette update is encouraging compared with the initial sight of him leaving practice, but the target-tree question remains.

McMillan is the alpha talent.

Coker is the role-stable value.

Legette must now prove that he can stay available and force his way into a meaningful weekly share.

New Orleans is making the running game a major camp priority, and its offensive line is openly discussing Alvin Kamara and Travis Etienne Jr. as a two-back combination rather than a winner-take-all competition. Tackle Dillon Radunz emphasized that both backs can sustain consecutive rushing attempts and contribute at a high level in the passing game.

The Saints entered camp expecting Kellen Moore to establish how the workload would be divided between Kamara and Etienne. Kamara has experience sharing a backfield, while Etienne gives New Orleans another proven runner who can catch the football.

The Saints may be capable of supporting both players, but their draft prices must reflect a committee.

Kamara remains the preferred option because his receiving history and familiarity with the offense provide a clearer foundation. Etienne offers valuable depth and enough versatility to create usable weeks, but he should not be drafted under the assumption that he will simply inherit a full-time lead role.

This backfield could become productive without becoming concentrated.

That distinction is important. A strong rushing offense does not automatically create an elite fantasy running back when two capable players divide carries, targets and scoring opportunities.

The Saints can also use both backs together, which may strengthen the offense while making individual weekly volume more difficult to predict.

Rookie receiver and return specialist Barion Brown delivered another strong practice Wednesday. Kellen Moore praised his energy and playmaking spark, while quarterback Zach Wilson described Brown as an exceptional athlete who is still developing technically.

Brown remains a deep sleeper rather than a standard redraft target. The word “raw” matters as much as the athletic praise.

His speed and space ability give the Saints reasons to manufacture touches, but he still must earn a stable offensive role in a receiver room led by Chris Olave and first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson.

The Saints are telling fantasy managers exactly what the backfield is likely to become.

They want both backs involved.

Managers should believe them.

Kamara and Etienne can each have value, but neither should be purchased at a price that assumes uncontested volume. Brown is the more intriguing low-cost development because his athletic profile could eventually earn designed opportunities even without a conventional starting role.

Jahmyr Gibbs’ contract hold-in has extended through a full week of Lions camp. General manager Brad Holmes said communication remains open, but no major public progress has been reported. Gibbs has remained with the team while withholding full practice participation.

Tank Dell participated in a full-pads practice Wednesday for the first time since the severe knee injury he suffered in December 2024. Dell took individual repetitions and ran routes at full speed but did not participate in team drills or one-on-ones as Houston continued a controlled return plan.

Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq experienced a setback related to the hernia surgery he underwent in May. Aaron Glenn did not provide a firm return timeline but said he expects Sadiq to be ready for the regular-season opener.

He used extra first-team access to earn Baker Mayfield’s trust rather than merely collecting empty camp repetitions.

His role was already secure, and any extended Legette absence would further concentrate Carolina’s targets around Coker and McMillan.

Tampa Bay is actively exploring his versatility as a runner, receiver and pass protector.

Two consecutive positive practice reports have moved him onto the deep-sleeper radar.

Returning to full pads represents a legitimate recovery milestone even though team work remains ahead.

The contract risk is gone. The controlled practice ramp does not alter his elite draft position.

Both Atlanta quarterback candidates are finding him, and his role remains the passing game’s foundation.

Gainwell can affect the receiving ceiling without replacing Irving as Tampa Bay’s best fantasy back.

Carolina’s receiver uncertainty only strengthens the value of its established alpha.

The Saints may divide backfield touches, but Olave remains the passing game’s clearest established target.

The initial concussion concern was cleared, but the stinger evaluation adds another obstacle to a prove-it camp.

Both are draftable. Neither should be priced as though the other will disappear.

No major downgrade yet, but the hold-in is now long enough to require continued attention.

The rookie’s early-season role may develop more slowly after another interruption.

The NFC South currently offers four different fantasy environments.

Atlanta has the division’s strongest premium core. Robinson is back in the 1.01 conversation, London remains stable, and the offense can produce high-end fantasy value even while the quarterback competition develops.

Tampa Bay has the division’s deepest collection of receiving options. Hurst is rising, but the depth may create weekly target volatility. Gainwell’s emergence also prevents managers from assuming Irving will control every passing-down opportunity.

Carolina has a clearer offensive foundation than it did a year ago. McMillan, Coker and Hubbard carry the safest roles, while Legette must turn medical clearance and physical talent into consistent availability and production.

New Orleans is building a backfield that may help the offense more than it helps either individual running back. Kamara and Etienne can coexist, but the best draft decision will be the one made at the correct price.

The most important action from this edition is straightforward:

Bijan Robinson is cleared for elite investment.

The best emerging value is Ted Hurst III.

The backfield requiring the greatest price discipline is New Orleans.
